This blog is maintained by students in Seminar Group 1 of ‘Network Society and the Media’ (MMSF404), a first-year undergraduate module at the University of Westminster for students taking the BA in Journalism, BA in Public Relations, BA in Television Production and BA in Radio Production. The module examines current developments in digital media within the broader framework of the network society. Our purpose is to critically engage with these developments, to discuss their political, social and economic implications, and to understand what they mean in practice for media professionals.
Students will be blogging on a wide range of issues, including the history of the internet, privacy, copyright, and the role of the audience in the digital era. They will also be sharing academic resources that they find interesting and comment on each other’s posts. Their blog posts form part of their assessment for the module.
