Is it surprising to see where the internet started from and the computing devices used in the past compared to now?
Almost 60 years ago the internet was non existent, imagine a year without it in today’s society.Don’t you think everyone would go mad? I find The evolution of hardware and a computer’s appearance in terms of size/technology to be somewhat captivating. The fact that the original computer, which contained most likely less information then what is accessible on an everyday smaller/compact device such as an iPhone is crazy. The original computer took up ‘about 8.5 feet (2.6 m) by 3 feet (0.9 m) by 80 feet (26 m) and taking up 680 square feet (63 m2)’, with today’s computers having measurements as small as 123.8 x 58.6 x 7.6 mm.In 1958 DARPA was set up leading to creation of the worlds first advanced computer network (ARPENET),with further research followed the microchip technology launched in the 1970’s.This technology proved to be promising therefore being fitted into every computer bringing 120 computer science departments together. So in 46 years, computers have shrunk tremendously and spread worldwide connecting not just 120 Computer science departments but connecting millions of people together. Is this surprising to you and how do you think the internet and computer technology will evolve in the future?
